The writing portion of the Naturalization interview is an oral test and the USCIS Officer will dictate to you one sentence at a time. If you do not write the sentence in a way that is understandable as written to the USCIS Officer, he or she will dictate to you another sentence to write. You will have up to three tries to write down one correct sentence.

Note: You will not be failed because of spelling, capitalization, or punctuation errors unless the errors would prevent understanding the meaning of the sentence.
